GETTING STARTED...

Before booking a first session, I offer a free 15-minute phone consultation during which we will discuss the circumstances that bring you to counselling and the type of care you are seeking.  It gives clients an opportunity to ask questions and establish a level of comfort before making a decision about proceeding.  Good therapy requires a sense of connection and safety so it is important that you select a therapist with whom you feel comfortable and at ease.

WHAT TO EXPECT

At its core, therapy is about creating a relationship in which change can be imagined, fostered, and practiced.

Prior to the first session, you will be sent an Intake Questionnaire to gather information about your contact details, as well as gain a high-level understanding of your emotional well-being, relevant history, and the challenges you are facing.  This questionnaire is not mandatory and you may choose to convey this information in person in the first session.

At the beginning of the first session, we will review the “Letter of Understanding” that documents your privacy rights, consent for treatment and financial details.  You will be asked to sign this document to document our agreement.

​

During the first 1-3 sessions, we will discuss the key problem(s) you are facing as well as the broader context of your history that may be relevant to your current situation.  Based on your preferences and circumstances, we will work together to determine your goals for therapy, assessing where you are starting from and where you would like to be.  We will consider the amount of time that you would like to dedicate to achieving these goals and map out a plan to work towards them.

My approach to therapy is highly collaborative, and I hold curiosity, openness, and humour as integral parts of successful therapy.  ​

FEES

The fee for a 50-minute session is $165.

​

​Many individuals will be able to claim psychotherapy services through their private insurance plan or health spending accounts for reimbursement.  Please verify coverage with your insurance provider.

​

Methods of Payment: E-transfer, VISA, Mastercard
